Grand Tour Intaglios

Living Through History

The Grand Tour was a journey taken through the landscapes of Europe and various countries in the 19th century. It focused on art and historical points of interest. Generally traveled by the wealthy and well-educated, intaglios became mementos to preserve the arts and culture of the times and were displayed prominently in grand homes. These carvings depicted portraiture, renowned architecture, and celebrated scenes from ancient Rome and Greek mythology.

The Caroline Chateau Intaglio Collection features plaster versions of original intaglios. This premiere collection will be updated frequently so we welcome you to visit often.
